Pokémon the Series

Jessie is a member of Team Rocket, more specifically part of a trio with James and Meowth, that follows Ash and his friends around in Pokémon the Series, usually trying to steal Ash's Pikachu. Jessie is prone to vanity and explosive anger. She values her appearance, and she can get furious when her face or hair is damaged. Furthermore, Jessie goes into a violent outrage whenever someone insults her beauty by calling her old. She is also angered when missions are either failed or botched, which is a regular thing. However, her anger tantrums have become less frequent and eruptive in later story arcs. Jessie loves performing and being the center of attention, and stubbornly insists that she is an actress despite no formal training or history.

While she is very incompetent when it comes to stealing Pokémon, Jessie eventually becomes a highly accomplished Performer and a Master Class semi-finalist. Indeed, after she loses to Serena, she is overjoyed by her steady progress, instead of going on her usual rants or crying like the others.

Despite her outward temperament, Jessie is a hopeless romantic who deeply cares for her friends and Pokémon. Coming from a history of abandonment and poverty, companionship and structure are things that clearly mean a lot to her. When given the choice, she, like the rest of her Team, will always root for the underdog. Jessie loves poison-type and snakelike pokemon, but also has a penchant for raising ghost-types, and a marked love for ice-types even though she has never raised one proper.

The Timeline

Straight out of foster care I went to nursing school, was failed miserably by the system, and spent a while trying to go on a proper Pokemon journey before giving up and applying to Pokemon Tech.

James and I met there, dropped out together, and joined a bike gang. We had a colossal fight and went our separate ways not soon after. Months (years??) passed before we were both starving young adults who were scouted for Team Rocket.

He was my final partner to be assigned. We were not strangers, but we acted like we were. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. After a lot of passive aggressiveness and a few weeks of us acting supremely not like ourselves in order to convince the other that we were fine without them, we finally broke under the stars one night. It was fwb for a while.

From that point on, things pretty much go as they are in canon: we were stellar agents for quite a while before running into a certain Twerp and his Rat, and we spent ages pursuing them before...

The dissolving of Team Rocket as an organization saw the lot of us doing a long few years of soul-searching in the form of a massive, backwards journey. We reunited with countless friends and former foes, did our best to make amends for all the bad we did, and found ourselves healing as people and pokemon in the process.

After everything was said and done, we settled into a steady job working for Delia at her restaurant in Pallet. Originally we wanted to do it to atone for decades of harassing her son, but we quickly became close friends with her. She gave us room & board in one of the suites on top of the restaurant. She always allowed us to give discounts to any twerps that came to visit. Meowth worked in the kitchen with us, there was a stage where I sometimes performed, our hotel room had 2 beds but we all ended up sleeping in the same one anyways.

Delia & I had tea dates twice a week and just laughed about all our shared experiences with Ash. He’s someone I remember vividly (obviously) he was aroace & a trans boy (also autistic, but honestly, half of the people I knew were–it was very typical and celebrated in that universe. It still weirds me out how it isn’t here.)

James and I were in love. We were together until the end. I’d prefer not to dwell on it because it’s completely repulsive to write about being in love with him.

(I’m kidding)

The Twerps were our biggest fans from that point on and we were theirs. I remember a lot of nights spent catching up with them until closing. I remember having dinner with Ash and Delia and Brock and Misty and Oak and all our Pokemon, despite everything.

Silly, Simple, One-Off Stuff

one time i accidentally stepped on wobbuffet's tail and he headbutted me so hard i passed out. i was mad at the time until i found out that wobbuffet usually KILL PEOPLE who do that and now i'm not mad anymore and have decided to never fuck with him again.

ash was a trans boy! he was aro as all hell. he was supes autistic but a lot of people in the universe were, it was very celebrated & common, i could honestly count my allistic friends on one hand. ash and i had a pretty chill relationship after everything went down? like once i stopped stalking him. he always had faith that i could be a better person. even when we were teasing each other there was a lot of love there. honestly i dont have a lot of specific memories because i stayed in pallet and ash was everywhere all the time. but the best times i had with him were battles and competitions. we were two bullheaded firecrackers and even when the fur started flying at the end of the day we were able to say we were friends. i wish i could properly convey just how vividly i remember the content of his smile and the fire in his voice. i don’t know how different my life would have been if i never met him. the ketchum house was the closest thing i think i ever really had to a proper home.

my pokemon and i liked to watch the sun rise after we’d lose contests as a form of self-care and letting go.

seviper loved to pull pranks!! he’d be the first to trip you with his tail and then snicker about it behind your back. he was probably the least affectionate of my pokemon, offering soft nuzzles & headbutts rather than big dramatic hugs. he was a morning person!! the hoenn team was entirely nocturnal except for poor seviper, but he would always catch the tail end of their late-night adventures lmao. most wild seviper are covered in scars head to toe, mine really wasnt when i caught him? i think he probably preferred to quietly sneak away than to fight. that or he didn’t live in an area heavily populated by zangoose, who knows.

being a girl who leaned slightly toward poison types in a past life treated me way better than it treated james but that was mostly with the reptiles because a snake can’t accidentally poison you. you can hug a snake all u want but unless it literally attacks u, ur good. thankfully i am not a lavender-haired dreamboat who exudes a ‘please eat me for breakfast’ vibe so there was not a lot of poison monsters deciding. to eat me for breakfast. the most arbok would do is hug me too tight with his whole ass body. seviper was far less cuddly he’d just fall asleep splayed out on me and trill in my general direction when he saw me. dustox on the other hand was a living accident machine. i don’t know how my wurmple evolved into that. i was blessed with the sweetest, most mild-mannered, most obedient wurmple in the entire world. that wurmple didn’t have a mischievous bone in its body. sometimes i would think wurmple was dead because it wouldn’t move for so long. that was just how it was. then this fucker evolves and suddenly it CANNOT STOP. MUST MOVE. BANG INTO STREETLIGHT. OH MY GOD THE MOON. IM GONNA FLY TO THE MOON. IM GONNA DO IT. dustox’s wings r like……. covered in a whole LAYER of poison powder. like thats where its name is from–“toxic dust.” that is the defining feature. they looked at this cute ass moth and were like should be name it something based around moths?? no lets name it for the CONSTANT CLOUD OF POISON just FALLING OFF IT. theoretically this is fine just keep your distance! okay except my dustox never stopped moving and she was super affectionate and she flapped her wings REALLY HARD AND FAST whenever she got excited, which was including and not limited to 1. every time she saw me 2. every time she saw a bright light 3. every time the moon was full 4. every time i told her there was a contest coming up, amongst many other things. so there was just a constant shower of poison coming down near/on me. AGAIN, avoidable after a while, but this also goes for if it touches your skin. and i… am cuddly. most of the time i was wearing gloves, which means i got used to wearing gloves. which means i always assumed i was wearing gloves, including when i wasn’t wearing gloves. which means i had 0 sense of danger in hugging my incredibly poison moth. which means sometimes i’d just be poisoned halfway through the day, including on heists and while practicing for contest appeals.

pumpkaboo and i actually didn’t get along very well originally? wild i know. she’s kind of a sassy lady and just didn’t really enjoy being my pokemon cause i think our personalities conflicted too much. she actually knew frustration at one point? which is a move that only works well if the pokemon dislikes its trainer. she used it ONCE and got a pretty solid hit in and it broke my heart so much that i never asked her to use it again. idk what changed. i feel like she warmed up to me a little before she evolved, but when she evolved thats when we really 100% realized we’re better as two divas hand in hand than at each other’s throats.

my mimikyu prefers to spend time on his own. it’s not so much that he’s antisocial, but he’s… i guess kind of off-putting & weird and so the other pokemon he interacts with don’t really know what to say to him or how to befriend him. he seems… fine with this? he likes to just wander around aimlessly, he likes to go on little walks in & around the den. if i don’t know where he is i usually just wait a few minutes and he rustles out of a bush, or i can scream ‘PIKACHU’ and he zooms into my peripheral hissing and spitting. he’s picky. he only likes certain foods, namely sweets. this is really funny up against mareanie because she’ll eat anything including things she absolutely should not be eating. mimikyu refused to let me catch him until i threw a luxury ball, and he won’t battle anything that isn’t a pikachu with rare exceptions. nothing i can say seems to remedy any of this, he’s just set in his ways and he only occasionally bends to protect me when he’s feeling affectionate. he knows what he wants and he figures there’s no point in changing what doesn’t need changing. all mimikyu make their cloth out of materials they find on their own, i think the only real guideline is it has to be some shade of yellow (unless they’re a shiny, shiny mimikyu are born 100% colourblind) so every mimikyu will feel different. mine felt like a really dingy kinda cheesecloth. the only real distinctly mimikyu thing about it is that ghost types are usually freezing cold (there’s whole guidelines about how you cant hug em for too long or you’ll go hypothermic fdgfhf) so there is that sensation when you touch a kyu.
